A presentation about how museums and historians in general learn about the past, with a look at different types of sources and bias. Two tasks - one a practical and written archaeology task in which children take on the role of archaeologists and the second a diary writing task from different point of view to examine bias.
A presentation about the Varangian Guard of the Byzantine Empire, which was made up mostly of Norsemen. A task in which students write a letter to the Emperor, applying for a job in the Guard.
All reading comprehensions have two differentiated sets of questions at KS2 level. They all work from extracts of Enthralled: A Viking Saga, but the extracts are included, as are the answers to the questions.
After the Book
An activity in which children write a blurb about Enthralled, using their descriptive skills and persuasive writing.
A review activity to help children think about story characters and what makes them entertaining.
